Unwired Planet Files Registration Statement for Initial Public Offering.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1999--Unwired Planet(TM) announced today that it has filed a Registration Statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of its common stock.

Unwired Planet is a leading provider of software that enables the delivery of Internet-based services to mass-market wireless telephones. Using our software, wireless subscribers have access to Internet- and corporate intranet-based services, including email, news, stocks, weather, travel and sports. In addition, subscribers have access via their wireless telephones to network operators' intranet-based telephony services, which may include over-the-air activation, call management, billing history information, pricing plan subscription and voice message management. Unwired Planet is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California and has regional offices in London and Tokyo.

The shares are expected to be offered to the public in June 1999 through an underwriting group managed by Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation and co-managed by Hambrecht & Quist LLC, BancBoston Robertson Stephens, Inc. and U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray Inc.
