Fed: Christmas Islanders benefit from GST Govt
The federal government says Christmas Island residents and local government stand
to reap rewards from the GST.
Regional Services Minister IAN MACDONALD says Territorians on the island won't face
a wholesale sales tax or GST but will benefit from income tax cuts and local government
will also do well.
Department officers have told a Senate hearing that officers are still looking at the
GST implications for islanders in relation to business and personal transactions on the
