WA: Police say industrial action will not put public at risk
West Australian police say public safety won't be affected when they begin work bansnext week in protest against a government pay offer.
Union chiefs have warned the industrial action could escalate if the state governmentrefuses to come back to the negotiating table.
A 48-hour police industrial campaign beginning on Monday will include bans on the issuingof fines for minor offences and a ban on unpaid overtime.
However, police union general manager KEN SEE denied the bans threaten public safety.
The union has demanded a 15 per cent pay rise over three years, while the state governmenthas offered an annual rise of three per cent over three years.
